Hello Robert,

Those 6 points are well put. In my opinion, perhaps numbers 5 and 6 are most important. Blogs serve as a vehicle for the community to engage in conversations with each other on an informal level, which is pressuring PR firms to go back to their roots and start with the consumer. Consumers now have power and PR firms need to embrace it.

Thanks for the great comment. Please let me know of any other conferences in the future!

Well put, Christopher. At a conference a few month back, I had the opportunity hear Nev Hobson speak on the topic of social media blogs and blogs. Blogs, he said, should be thought of as: (1) giant global focus group; (2) a tool to engage consumers; (3) a dynamic, complementary communication channel; (4) a way to create connections and develop influence; (5) a tool for empowering consumers, employees and the media; (6) a way to build genuine community. You'll note that sales never entered his picture.

[...] Ah ha, there it is…finally who agrees with me. PR firms are calling blogging the KILLER APP, and by all means they are single handedly killing themselves. What's it going to take for PR firms to get? [...]
