Hello dcholloway,

Thanks for your comment. And you're right, I left out a very BIG tool that will likely evolve in 2008...MOBILE.

I look forward to hearing your predictions, please let me know when you've completed them.

The mobile phone is going to play a huge part.

Think: contextually aware mobile phones connected (through something like OpenSocial) to every SoNet to which you belong, while simultaneously aware of the existence of other (maybe previously unknown) users in nearby geographical locales.

In 2008 our SoNets will get smarter about who we are, what we like and do (and what we don't), and who we should know (and shouldn't).

And Virtual Agents? Is this finally the year? I think contextually aware mobile phones and apps are going to pave the way for intelligent virtual agents as soon as (or shortly thereafter) the context meets the network.

I'll have this better mapped out as I wrap up my own predictions...

Not to piss on your parade, but Dan is not anything resembling an expert at EMC. He's a junior-level kid making nearly nothing getting coffee for the PR team. He's yet to write a single release or create anything for EMC in the Social Media sphere. Of the 25 or so people working on Social Media, Dan is easily at the bottom rung and with layoffs coming he will probably be out of work soon. Your opinions of him are based entirely on what he has written about himself. Saying you are an expert is not the same is being one.
