I got a glimpse of the new phenom called “Social Media” in 2005 while interning at Hitachi Data Systems under Jeremiah Owyang. To me, this wasn’t anything new b/c this was my generation (Gen Y), its what I grew up with. However, this was reverse for older generations (primarily who I worked with).
Yet, Jermiah got the Community Marketing bug and I followed. Together we worked on a few different initiatives and succeeded until he moved on to bigger and better things. Since then I’ve kept up my own research and knowledge collection.
4 Years later, I’m still working at HDS, in a different department, and to no surprise I still have the Social Media bug. Except, now all of my friends are in the same boat, I’m no longer part of the select few who know about this industry.
As an early adopter, I’m always looking out for the next best bug…until then, I’ll be here.
